Job summary
West Raynham Ward is a 29 bedded Stroke Unit, which provides care for patients during the hyperacute, acute and rehabilitation phase of their journey. Working with key members of the Stroke team this post will support in the leadership of the service, reflecting Trust Strategy and securing funding streams where applicable. The post holder will work with the multidisciplinary team to support patients and across the entirety of their inpatient journey.
Taking 24 hour responsibility for the clinical care provided in the inpatient ward, the post will provide professional and managerial leadership to nursing and ancillary staff; facilitating staff to reach their maximum potential through continuous professional/personal development, whilst creating and promoting a culture where change is embraced and there is commitment to achieving and sustaining high standards of patient care and clinical practice.
Main duties of the job

On a rotational basis the post holder will be required to work as part of the emergency stroke outreach on call service, and cover shifts as part of the staffing bleep holder on call rota. In addition to the non-clinical duties of the role, the candidate is required to provide direct clinical involvement and demonstrate competent clinical practice, facilitating the dissemination of knowledge and practice skills to the multidisciplinary team.
Ensuring strong representation within the Directorate Management Team and actively participating with senior members within and outside the Trust to facilitate the flow of patients through the hospital.
Working with the Lead Nurse for Stroke and TIA to implement the nursing strategy ensuring that evidence of integration of the strategy in working practice is available for audit. Challenging existing practices, ensuring that progressive solutions, which take into account models of best practice, are incorporated into service plans whilst supporting clinicians to deliver improved clinical outcomes for patients and efficient use of resources.
