Job summary
The CT department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in King's Lynn are offering the opportunity for a band 5 Radiographer to train in CT. Newly qualified Radiographers are welcome to apply.
You will be expected to participate in 7 day working across the QEH and Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) sites.
The intention of this position is to broaden the knowledge, skills, and development opportunities in the department.
Following completion of training, there is the opportunity should operational circumstances allow for continued working within other modalities.
Applicants will be supported and trained in becoming competent to scan standard non-contrast/staging (contrast) scans, and certain angiography studies. For more complex studies such as Cardiac imaging and CT Virtual Colonography, you will support more senior members of the team.
This role offers the opportunity to become Cannulation and PGD trained, to administer contrast. The role is further supported by East of England imaging academy specific training experiences for CT.
Consideration will only be given to applicants with proven NHS experience.
Main duties of the job
You will be supported to undertake a clinical logbook with competency sign-off, including Patient Group Directives and cannulation. Other clinical duties include: -
Communicate effectively with the Modality Team Lead, Consultant Radiologists, clinical staff and radiology assistant staff, regarding operational and clinical issues.
Perform imaging examinations either in person or as part of the team, maintaining high professional standards and supporting and monitoring the quality standards of the directorate.
Become and remain competent at image manipulation.
To take part in the departmental quality assurance programmes.
To ensure that all the appropriate documentation for each patient is accurately completed according to departmental protocols and adhere to the data protection act. Correctly record all radiographic images where appropriate on the Radiology PACS system.
To participate in 7 day working, the extended working day, night shifts, on-call and bank holiday rota as appropriate. To be flexible with shift patterns in view of staffing levels and training needs.
Ensure a full working knowledge of all equipment in use in clinical area; this will include the IT systems relevant to the post.
To assess the needs of the patient and plan the delivery of care around those needs.
To ensure the safe transfer of all patients including those with spinal trauma.
