Job summary
We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic Radiographer who wants to join a progressive MRI team.
The MRI department has two new GE Voyager scanners recently installed and expertise with these new machines will aid the department in maximising efficiency. In 2024 we expect to be adding a Siemens MRI machine in the newly built DAC centre which will bring the MRI capacity up to 3 scanners across the Trust.
The successful applicant needs to demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise, have excellent communication skills, initiative and have the ability to work efficiently and positively within the multidisciplinary team. The individual selected will be prepared to continually develop themselves personally and professionally to benefit patients, our Trust and team.
Main duties of the job
- Safe and efficient MRI image acquisition
- High level of patient/person centred, values-based care
- Effective communication across all levels of the multidisciplinary team
- Working within one's own scope of practice
- Maintenance of mandatory training
- Participation in shifts including OOH and weekend working.
The MRI service operates for 12.5 hours daily on a 7-days per week rota. Many MRI staff work a 3-day shift pattern; however, we can be flexible in this approach. The post holder will work in a specialised Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit working independently and unsupervised, you will be responsible for your own imaging, and we do have vetting policy in place for radiographers wanting to aid in the protocolling of examinations. The ability to prioritise the workload is essential. Provide motivation and training for junior staff is also vital, and we expect our staff to take responsibility for junior staff members. We expect the successful applicant to be adaptive and work towards the Trusts goals. With new equipment comes new and more innovative methods of working and we expect all staff to be receptive and willing to learn.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.
We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.
In February 2022 the significant progress that has been made at QEH was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as 'Good' in all of the core services they inspected. They recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).
