We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Sleep Nursing Team working as a Specialist Sleep Practitioner. You will be joining a small enthusiastic multidisciplinary team in the assessment, diagnosis and management of sleep disorders in both typically developing children and those with neurodevelopment difficulties.

You will need to have a good understanding of child development and child behaviour. Experience of working with children with additional needs and their families in a variety of settings is desirable.

Knowledge of sleep is desirable and full training will be given. You will need to be self motivated, flexible, hard working and a quick learner, as well as enjoying being a part of an expanding and developing team.

Sheffield Children's NHS FT is a Specialised Paediatric Hospital and a Centre of Excellence, with our services amongst the best in the country.

You should have good communication skills and a commitment towards personal and professional development. Full orientation and support will be given to the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Paediatric Sleep Disorders Nurse Specialist, and following a period of competency-based training, your responsibilities will include:

  • Support nursing and multi-disciplinary teams with patient assessment, treatment planning and discharge
  • Work independently within agreed protocols and guidelines
  • Carry out developmental assessments in line with treatment plans.
  • Contribute to developing procedures and protocols to enhance service delivery.
