Are you a passionate and qualified CBT Therapist ready to make a meaningful impact in paediatric care?
We're looking for a dedicated professional to join our dynamic Paediatric Psychology Department at Sheffield Children's Hospital. As one of the UK's leading specialist paediatric centres, the hospital cares for children and young people aged 0-19, referred from across the country for expert treatment and support.
This is a unique opportunity to provide specialist psychological input across the Haematology and Oncology pathways, with scope for cross-speciality work within a leading children's hospital.
You'll be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care to children, young people, and their families.
About You
- CBT Therapist with relevant professional registration (e.g., BABCP)
- Experience working with children and young people in clinical settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across specialities and discipline
There is a strong culture of research and training within the Paediatric Psychology Department, and a huge amount of expertise in working with children with physical health problems.
Informal visits and enquiries are strongly encouraged.
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Joint Head of Psychological Services (Paediatric Psychology), some of your responsibilities will include:

Deliver CBT interventions through face-to-face, online, group, and inpatient formats

Provide psychological assessments and tailored interventions for patients across a range of physical health pathways, including Haematology and Oncology

Offer expert consultation and advice to colleagues and carers on psychological care

Work autonomously within professional and service guidelines

Contribute to service development, audit, and research initiatives

Support training and continuous improvement across the department

- CBT accreidation with the BABCP - with a focus on CBT with children and young adults
- Registration with the HCPC as a Clinical Psychologist, or other relevant professional body.
Desirable
- Additional training in CBP with children and in young people with ASD.
Experience

- Experience of specialist CBT assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people with psychological and mental health problems and their families in physical health settings
- Experience of working with a wide variety of child mental health problems across the full age range, reflecting all levels of severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
