Main duties of the job

The responsibilities of this role will vary depending on the specialty placement.

Paediatric Emergency Medicine -

The successful candidates will undertake clinical work as part of the CT3+ rota, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care. They will be expected to maintain accurate and detailed clinical records, engage in ongoing professional development and attend regular teaching and multidisciplinary sessions.

In addition, they will participate in audit and quality improvement projects to support service development, while also taking responsibility to supervise and teach junior colleagues, fostering a supportive and educational environment within the team.

In General or Specialty Paediatrics, the postholder will be responsible for the assessment and management of acute admissions in both the Acute Assessment Unit and inpatient wards, while also providing supervision and support to ST1-3 trainees, VTS doctors, and Foundation trainees. The role includes participation in weekly general paediatric clinics under consultant supervision, with opportunities to attend specialty clinics and develop individual areas of interest.

In addition, the postholder will contribute to the out-of-hours and on-call rota within the general paediatric team, ensuring comprehensive patient care across a range of clinical settings.
