An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Nurse to join our small, friendly, multi-professional team in the Safeguarding Support Unit (SSU) and Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) at Sheffield Children's Hospital. You will support the Named Nurse in the implementation of the safeguarding strategy and maintain Safeguarding Supervision across acute services.
The SSU department is a medical assessment unit where daily clinics allow children to be seen when concerns are raised about child abuse and neglect.
The South Yorkshire Children's Sexual Assault Referral Centre is located within the SSU and our dedicated team of paediatricians, nurses and psychologists support this work alongside the daily clinics.
You will develop strong multi-agency links and partnerships through excellent communication skills.
You will work with the Named Professionals in the development and delivery of the Trust Safeguarding Children training strategy and audit program.
You will promote high standards of practice relating to the safety and welfare of children and adults at risk in all areas of service provision and to challenge unsafe practice and take relevant action as required.
This area of service provision within the Trust offers great opportunity for innovative working and scope for development and expansion of the service within the SSU, in collaboration with safeguarding activity across the organization and our partners across the region.
Main duties of the job
You will support the Named Nurse in the implementation of the Safeguarding Strategy for the Trust and promote safeguarding practice as per statutory roles and responsibilities
You will demonstrate active leadership skills and to manage the Safeguarding Specialist Nurses
You will managethe highly specialist service in a variety of settings, ensuring effective and efficient quality of care provision to children, using Trust protocols, policies and guidelines.
You will work with the Named Professionals in the development and delivery of the Trust safeguarding Children training strategy and audit programme.
You will provide specialist Safeguarding Supervision, advise and support to all disciplines of staff in the Trust and lead on areas of expertise and development identified by the Named Nurse.
You will promote high standards of practice relating to the safety and welfare of children and adults at risk in all areas of service provision.
You willchallenge unsafe practice and take relevant action to ensure appropriate safeguarding of children.
You will work on flexible hours to include both managing and participating in the nursing on call rota to support the Forensic Paediatricians.
You will provide cross cover with the Band 7 Safeguarding Support Unit/Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SSU/SARC)manager to provide continuity of service, and deputise for the Named Nurse when required.
