Job summary

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, motivated and flexible personnel to join the Hotel Services Department and become a part of the Catering Team at the Sheffield children's Hospital .

This role will consist of working 35 hours per week, on a 4 week rolling rota.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the assurance of high quality food produced for patients, family, staff and visitors.To prepare and cook food, including special and ethnic diets along with any allergen free requirements.Assist in the planning and costing of menu's and stock ordersProvide technical catering advice, guidance and training to other catering staff, Housekeepers and clinical staff members as required.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To carry out tasks assigned to you by the Head Cook/Deputy Head Cook. In the absence of Head cook/ Deputy Head Cook inform relevant teams of any menu changes or dietary requirements and reorganise menus and production in a timely manner so as not to impact on service delivery. Prioritisation of work to enable food to be produced in a timely manner for food service. To assist in the training of new team members To work closely with other Team Members to ensure high quality food it produced. To follow cooking techniques and procedures as specified in departmental procedures. To produce food of a high quality and consistent standard, taking into consideration possible cross-contamination in relation to Allergens. Precise attention to detail when following special diet plans To address any queries staff, patients or their relatives may have in a professional, pleasant and friendly manner. To adhere to all hygiene regulations. To follow the trust guidelines on Health and Safety and to work in a safe manor with regards to codes of practice. To carry out cleaning duties to the standard required. To ensure food is well presented/garnished for service. To monitor and document procedures as identified by the Head Cook/Catering Manager To ensure all paperwork is carried out in conjunction with good management practices. To report any faults in machinery to the Head Cook/Assistant Head Cook. To contribute to the departments operation and development by following all procedures as laid down by Hotel Service Management. To undergo all training as required. This is to include updates, refreshers and statutory training. To assist /serve on any retail outlet as /when required.
