Job summary
We are looking for an energetic, innovative, compassionate, and motivated nursing leader to join the Senior Nursing Team at Sheffield Children's FT as the Deputy Chief Nurse for Community and Mental Health Services.
The Deputy Chief Nurse will act to ensure high quality and effective care for children and young people who use our services is delivered in accordance with our Clinical Strategy and Quality Promise. The successful post holder will actively promote a culture aligned to our Trust values, thus acting as a role model within the organisation.
Accountable and responsible to the Chief Nurse, the post holder will work largely unsupervised and will have the skills to credibly influence across the organisation and wider health and social care system at the highest level.
The successful applicant will also provide system leadership to promote and realise enhancements to quality and patient experience through their direct involvement in these programmes of work.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Chief Nurse will provide visible and purposeful leadership within the organisation.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to and lead the formulation and implementation of a wide range of national and local standards and best practice requirements.
The post holder will provide recommendations to the Executive Team in relation to this and plan and deliver interventions to ensure compliance.
The role requires an ability to lead change and be skilled at developing others.
The Deputy Chief Nurse will contribute to the development of policy and strategy and represent the Chief Nurse at appropriate internal and external forums.
Deputise for the CNO when necessary.

Working in partnership with the Medical and Deputy Medical Directors in developing, implementing, and evaluating Corporate Strategies around quality and safety. Work in partnership with the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, and other corporate deputies and their teams, to provide professional support with the delivery of the organisational and operational priorities. Taking the lead role on a range of corporate projects identified by the Chief Nurse.
