Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Spinal team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust as a Spinal Nursing Administrator working 36 hours per week.
The postholder will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and service users with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in their role. They will share the Trust values and be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
The postholder will work alongside the spinal nurses ensuring an efficient and effective service. You will also work closely with the spinal consultants and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include;
- Assisting in the everyday work of the spinal nurses
- Organisation of office work eg; photocopying, updating and logging records, general paperwork
- Involvement in spinal patients' pathways, results, appointments, updating patient records
- Computer work; emails, using the Trust's systems ie; Careflow and EDMS, spinal team computer records
- Communication with families and other professionals; internal and external

Job responsibilities
Admin & Clerical
- Deal with incoming and outgoing telephone calls from / to parents/carers, nurses, schools, secretaries and third parties in liaison with the nurses. This will require analysis of queries/issues, making judgments as to how to deal with them and escalate as appropriate.
- Triage phone calls, with the support of the clinical team, ensuring queries are actioned in an appropriate and timely manner. This includes the booking of patients into clinics following a triaged phone call, where needed.
- Update call log and consult with the Patient Record system for missing details.
- Maintain and update databases, spreadsheets and other software systems on behalf of the nursing team including information for systemic patients ensuring they are seen in a timely manner.
