Senior Clinical Fellow (Paediatric)
A post has become available to commence working in Paediatric Surgery, from date of commencement for 12 months at ST3+ level on the middle grade rota.
This post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean, but the post holders will have the same teaching and training opportunities alongside four other Higher Specialist Trainees and four other Core Surgical Trainees

Main duties of the job
This post provides excellent experience in neonatal surgery, general and subspecialist paediatric surgery and urology.
The post holder will work on the middle grade rota.
The work of the Paediatric Surgical Unit encompasses the management of new born infants and children with congenital malformations and other surgical conditions. The 12-bedded Neonatal Surgical Unit is a Regional Centre dealing with over 150 new cases each year. The pre-operative assessment, operative treatment and post-operative intensive care of these infants are of vital importance. The general paediatric surgical work covers the wide variety of surgical conditions encountered in this age group including Urology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Thoracic Surgery and Oncology all with a strong emphasis on Minimal Access techniques.

There are six Consultant Paediatric Surgeons, Prof R M Fisher (Clinical Lead), Mr R M Lindley, Mr S S Marven, Mr G V Murthi, Miss E M Gavens, Mr J Bowen and two Paediatric UrologistsMiss C MacDonald and Miss S Rusu. Junior medical staff in general surgery include 4 Specialty Registrars, 4 Senior Clinical Fellows, 4 ST1/2 paediatric rotation trainees, 3 CT1/2 trainees in surgery, 2 junior clinical fellows, one F2 trainee, and 2 F1 trainees.
