Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior Staff Nurse with a special interest in Tissue Viability to cover maternity leave.
You will be pivotal in maintaining a comprehensive tissue viability and wound care service across all Trust sites and in the community. You will work closely with the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Tissue Viability Team and develop relationships with other Tissue Viability Nurses in other Children's Hospitals.
Main duties of the job
- Education and audits are key elements of the role, along with providing clinical support as required.
- To manage a clearly defined case load in a variety of settings, ensuring effective and efficient patient flows, whilst ensuring the quality of care provision to children, using Trust protocols, policies and guidelines.
- To provide leadership to the nursing and support team, setting an example of professional standards.
- To lead and be proactive in customer care relations, advocating for families promoting and disseminating good practice.
- Support and develop initiatives that are aimed at transforming and improving specialist service
- To consistently show initiative and engage with families to develop new ways of working
- To act as an independent prescriber in areas of competency

- To communicate and liaise effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team, both verbally and in writing.
- Provide and receive highly complex or sensitive information where there are barriers to understanding.
- Empower the patients, by providing appropriate and effective support to enrich family life.
- Promote and maintain good and effective communication with patients, relatives, and visitors.
- Persuade patients and families to co-operate with treatment for their well-being, effectively deal with anxious relatives.
- Ensure parents/carers and the child (when appropriate), have the opportunity to agree and/or negotiate care.
- Communicate and liaise with other departments/ wards in the hospital to provide support and advice on resource management and professional nursing issues (524 bleep holder).
- Work closely with consultants and ward areas to ensure smooth pathways of care.
