Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the psychology services at Ryegate Children's Centre which is part of Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic clinical psychologists to join our busy team to provide a psychology service to children and families as well as advice and consultation to professional colleagues. We currently have a vacancy for 0.6 wte Band 8A.

Professionally you will join a well-established Neurodisability and Neurology Clinical Psychology service which provides local, regional and national specialist services, through direct patient care, consultation and supervision.

22.50 hour per week

Main duties of the job

The 8a post holder will join an established multidisciplinary team providing input to children with neurological difficulties (including those with neurodevelopmental comorbidities). The remit of the role may vary according to service demand but a significant proportion of the post will be supporting the 8B to develop an intervention service for children with epilepsy, and providing psychological assessment and intervention for referred children via individual or group work. Therefore, extensive experience of working with children and young people with a variety of needs and presentations will be required. As many of the children in the service will have identified cognitive difficulties, experience/additional training in this area would also be advantageous. Good communication skills for written report writing and close working with other members of the multidisciplinary team will be essential.

The post is ideally suited to a qualified clinical psychologist with a particular interest and specialist skills developed from experience of working within Neurodisability and/or neurology services or other health contexts.

There is a large professional group of more than 60 clinical psychologists, systemic family therapists, child psychotherapists and art therapists working within the Trust.

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuro-psychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS
  • Further specialist supervision in specific psychological approaches and or client groups supported by case presentations, group supervision and short courses. as part of an agreed personal development plan
  • Registration with the HCPC as a Clinical Psychologist (or other relevant domain as agreed by the Director of Psychological Services)

Desirable

  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
  • Training and experience in the use of DISCO, ADI and/or ADOS
