Specialist Midwife for Safer Maternity Care (Band 7)

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to fulfil the role of Specialist Midwife for Safer Maternity Care, the post holder will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate the implementation of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle, the Maternal Care Bundle and any subsequent National Maternity safety drivers which may supersede or complimentimprovements in maternal and new born health.

The role will work collaboratively with other specialist Midwives who contribute to quality and safety as well as department managers and consultants to develop quality improvements to contribute to the implementation of these work streams.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, both internal and external, communicating with agencies and user representatives. The successful candidate will be a representative on external forums when required, collating information in the required format, uploading data into the NHS Futures platform, ensuring that data can be easily accessed by key stakeholders.

As a Specialist Midwife you will represent the service and present the progress withSBLCBV3 at West Yorkshire and Harrogate (WY&H) Local Maternity Neonatal System (LMNS) level, Yorkshire and Humber Maternity Neonatal Network and National level where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Director to deliver the National Maternity Agenda relating to improving the safety of maternity care.

Provide a clinical lead and role model to the midwifery and obstetric team in the delivery of the preterm birth pathway.

Identify gaps in learning and implementation of all aspects of SBLCBV3 and the Maternal Care Bundle

  • Measure and present all standards of the SBLCBV3 and the Maternal Care Bundle

  • Work in collaboration with all relevant MDT members to have oversight of compliance to all elements of the SBLCBV3 and the Maternal Care Bundle

  • Represent the service at LMNS/Regional and National level, specifically in relation to implementation of SBLCBV3 and the Maternal Care Bundle.Please see the job description for full details of the main duties of the job.
