JOIN OUR SPECIALIST STROKE AND NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION UNIT!
We are looking to recruit compassionate, highly motivated Registered Nurses with excellent communication skills to join our patient centred supportive specialist Stroke and Neuro rehabilitation unit.
Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is committed to delivering a safe, fast and effective acute stroke service with the support of the Bradford Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust who will provide initial hyper acute assessment, treatment and stroke care. Ward 5 is a 24 bedded specialist unit to provide seamless, evidence based, multidisciplinary care within the most appropriate care setting to individuals who have had a stroke and other neurological needs.
Our motivated hardworking nursing team work together with specialist therapy team to provide safe, caring and supportive environment to achieve rehabilitation goals. We provide unit specific induction programme, structured preceptorship and regular ward-based training sessions to maintain our high standards of quality, safety and outstanding patient experience.
Main duties of the job
To assess, plan, implement and assist with the evaluation of individual programmes of careOffer advice and support to the patient's families and friends responding to their individualneeds.Communicate with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care and achieve rehabilitation goals

KEY AREAS OF WORK Maintain a high standard of nursing care for acutely ill patients in accordance with MedicalAssessment Unit and Airedale Hospital Trust guidelines and protocols. Develop good working relationships with nursing colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team. Contribute towards the development of clinical practice by participating in practice, and selfdevelopment programmes on the unit. Adheres to Airedale General Hospital Trust policies and procedures relating to health andsafety. Maintain a high standard of nursing care for the acutely ill patient in accordance withAiredale Hospital NHS Trust guidelines and policies.VALUE BASETo demonstrate a belief in: High standards of individual nursing care with a commitment to the development of bestclinical practice, which is evidence based. Demonstrate professional accountability and works within own limitations. Maintain accurate legal records of care using care planning and Airedale General HospitalTrusts documentation. Demonstrate thorough and concise verbal handover which reflects the care and treatmentgiven to the patient over the course of the shift. Respect the need for confidentiality and adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. Offer help and advice to the patients family/friends responding to their individual needs in acaring and supportive manner. Develop scope of professional practice to administer intravenous medications. Communicate readily with the nurse-in-charge of the shift, regarding the patients care andcondition. Integrate within the team and promote a team approach to working. Consult and co-operate with medical/nursing and support staff from other areas whereappropriate. Keep the senior nurse informed of untoward incidents/events and maintain accuratedocumentation in accordance with the Trusts policy. Participate in the preceptorship and in-service training programme. Identify individual learning needs at appraisal and contribute to a personal developmentplan. Demonstrates a commitment to self-development. Promote research based practice wherever possible according to the Trusts and Unitsguidelines, standards and protocols.
