We are delighted to seek applications for an Advanced Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Training) with extended tissue dissection in the IPS Histopathology laboratorybased on the Bradford Royal Infirmary site. In addition to tissue dissection element of the role the successful candidate will lead in Training for IPS on the Bradford Royal Infirmary site. This post is a unique collaboration between IPS and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP is an innovative joint-venture pathology service between Airedale NHS Foundation Trust (AGH), Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BRI)and Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust. This partnership delivers a high-quality pathology service through collaboration between three Trusts for the benefit of patient and service users.
The IPS laboratory on the BRI site receives specimen samples ranging from category A to E. As aAdvanced Specialist BMS with the Diploma in Expert Practice in Histological Dissection, you will work with other Biomedical scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants, as well as other members of the department's clinical team, dealing with a range of specimen types covering sub-specialist areas such as gastrointestinal, gynaecological, head and neck, osteoarticularand urology specimens. You will undertake the role of expert dissector in a range of Histopathology sub-specialities and will achieve competency in the dissection of category A, B and C specimens.
Main duties of the job
Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a large acute teaching hospital, and the Histology workload is complex and specialist reflecting this. Bradford has a dissection laboratory which serves to support the Trust Consultant Histopathologists in dissection, with onward processing of specimens being prepared on the Airedale site laboratory.
Whilst the role is based at the Bradford site, the successful candidate will be employed by Airedale NHS Foundation Trust as part of the joint venture arrangements. Occasional travel to other IPS sites will be required at times, in fulfilment of the role.
