Job summary
Applications are invited for HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientists for a full-time Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist position in Haematology/Blood Transfusion sited at Bradford Royal Infirmary. Candidates will need to be enthusiastic, well- motivated and innovative, with good organisational and practical abilities supported by sound scientific knowledge. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to support individual and team working is essential. All of these skills and attributes are in line with the Trust's Right Care Behaviors.
The department is well equipped, including Sysmex XN 3000 system, ACL TOP 550's, Genexpert DX system, Alifax Test1 analysers. The Transfusion department is fully automated with 2 OrthoVisions and electronic issue of blood products.
Main duties of the job
The department operates a 24/7 service utilising a 37.5 hour continuous process pattern (CPP) shift system in which you will be required to fully participate, after suitable training.
Opportunities for further study and CPD are strongly supported. The laboratory has full UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189:2012 and is currently awaiting a final verdict on UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189:2022. The department is also approved for training by the IBMS.
