Job summary
The Head of Corporate Governance is a key leadership role withinthe corporate governance function of the Trust. The post holder willwork closely and provide advice to the Board and senior managerson matters of corporate governance, such as interpreting proceduresand rules within the Trust's legal and regulatory framework, and toensure that professional, effective and efficient administrativesupport is provided to the Board, Board Committees, and Council ofGovernors.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead and ensure comprehensive mechanismsare in place to manage and measure the corporate governance ofthe Trust, with a view to achieving best practice and continuedimprovement against national standards.In pursuing these duties, the postholder will ensure compliance withthe Trust's Constitution.

- Masters in Corporate Governance, and/or membership of the Chartered Governance Institute and working to or having completed a post-graduate level qualification and/or the completion of the Manchester Business School Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Policy
- Post graduate level knowledge and practice of NHS corporate governance gained through substantial evidence of working in a senior capacity in the NHS or related field
- Commitment to continuing professional development
Desirable
- Sound knowledge of NHS Foundation Trust governance Issues.
- Management qualification.
- Evidence of significant personal/professional development

- Experience of working at Board level within a large complex organisation and advising on highly complex matters.
- Experience, knowledge and application of corporate governance legislation and best practice especially in complex and devolved settings.
- Experience of working with and servicing and supporting Board Committees
- Track record of initiating and implementing good administrative and reporting systems.
- Experience of successfully working with a range of stakeholders, including the public, Council of Governors, Trust membership and system partners and balancing their different needs and requirements.
