Job summary
We welcome applications from doctors following completion of your foundation or core training. Less than full time (LTFT) applications will be considered but this will normally require a proportionate share of out of hours shifts unless stated otherwise.
General surgery & Urology and Trauma & Orthopaedics - the post holder will have some influence over the choice of speciality (or rotations between specialities) but will be required to cover all surgical specialities out of hours.
Main duties of the job
Depending upon the duration of the contract and previous experience/aspirations of the post holder we will expect you to participate in the normal rota for trainees forGeneral surgery & Urology and Trauma & Orthopaedics which will include out of hours shifts.
We would expect you to consider up to 1 day per week of non-clinical work e.g. medical student teaching/simulation/QI project etc or a period of unpaid leave part way through the year; this will need to be discussed and agreed at interview. Opportunities torotate between specialities can be discussed depending upon where our vacancies are and your aspirations.
Our expectations of you would be that you will:
Have already completed Foundation Training (or equivalent); previous NHS experience and/or additional surgical experience beyond foundation level would be a definite advantage. the post holder will also be required to participate in
Training opportunities, including dedicated study leave and funding.
Support with achieving CREST competencies if required.
GMC connection to the Trust and Responsible Officer.
Annual appraisal and job planning.
Have full GMC registration and a licence to practice;please do not apply unless you already have FULL GMC registration.

A fixed term contract initially of up to 12 months potentially extendable by mutual agreement.
ST/CT1 (MT03) pay with enhancements equivalent to doctors in training determined by the agreed rota; other terms and conditions will also mirror those for doctors in training.
