Job summary

Applications are invited for a full time HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist in Haematology and Blood transfusion.

Candidates will need to be enthusiastic, well-motivated and innovative, with good organisational and practical abilities supported by scientific knowledge. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to support individual and team working is essential. All these skills and attributes are in line with the Trust's Right Care Behaviours.

The post is a cross-site role, and the successful applicant would be expected to work across both Airedale and Bradford sites when needed.

The departments are well equipped, including Sysmex XN 9000 tracked system at AGH, Sysmex 3000 at BRI, ACL TOP 550's, Genexpert DX system, (AGH) Alifax Test1 analysers. The Transfusion departments are fully automated with 2 Ortho Visions and electronic issue of blood products.

The department operates a 24/7 service utilising including an out of hours system in which you will be required to fully participate.

Opportunities for further study and CPD are strongly supported and is approved for training by the IBMS.

The successful candidate will be employed directly by Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of a team of skilled Biomedical Scientists within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion department to provide a high quality pathology service.

The post holder will assist in carrying out the routine work of the Department in order to meet departmental and organisational objectives. To follow Departmental Standard Operating Procedures and to supervise and assist in the training of new and junior staff, including Laboratory Support staff.
