Senior Healthcare Support Worker - Diabetes (Band 3)

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated experienced Band 3 Health care support working to join the multidisciplinary diabetes team at Airedale NHS Foundation trust.

Main duties of the job

  • Ordering of dressings and equipment for the acute foot clinic, top-up orders for the diabetes centre Diabetes Specialist Nursing (DSN) team
  • Support and supervision of Band 2 HCSW
  • Venepuncture
  • Supporting the DSN in the gestational education group, teaching individuals how to use the blood glucose meter
  • To label urine samples and to ensure its prompt despatch to the Pathology department for analysis, or analyse samples using equipment provided.
  • Complete all non-clinical information on request forms for laboratory and radiographic investigations.
  • Undertake observations, as required.
  • Educate patients and carers on how to home blood glucose monitor.
