Job summary

We are looking for a Estates and Facilities Director to join us at Airedale Hospital!

This post requires an experienced and qualified Estates & Facilities Management professional to provide the Trust with strategic direction, leadership, specialist knowledge and advice on Estates and Facilities services. These are set out in this job description. In particular, the successful applicant shall be required to advise the Trust on the most appropriate ongoing management of the current estate in relation to Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) and lead the oversight of this through contractual arrangements with AGH Solutions.

The role holder will play a substantial contribution in ensuring that the corporate objectives of the Trust are achieved with specific focus on the delivery of suitable, safe and secure premises and equipment.

The post holder must be capable of senior decision making, taking responsibility for acting on those decisions, implementing the requirements and being individually accountable for outcomes.

The successful applicant will also need to demonstrate leadership qualities in managing diverse relationships, change and a resolute focus on delivery.

Main duties of the job

Acting as the Trusts Informed Client the Associate Director of Estates and Facilities will be responsible for ensuring that the Trust's estate and facilities portfolio is managed safely, cost effectively and within statutory requirements through the contract arrangements and its respective service level agreements (SLA) with AGH Solutions Ltd.

Acting as the Trusts Informed client the post holder will support and advise the Chief Operating Officer to fulfil their role as the senior contract manager (as set out in the SPV Full Business Case) the Director of Estates and Facilities will analyse the performance of the AGH solutions Ltd contract, allowing the Chief Operating Officer to ensure the SLAs are effectively managed on delivered. The role will assist the Chief Operating officer in ensuring that the benefits set out in the full SPV business case are realised.

To provide specialist advice to the Trust on the estate and facilities management to ensure it is an enabler for the delivery of the Trust's strategic goals, especially supporting the delivery of high quality services, colleague wellbeing, patient experience and environment sustainability.

Contribute to the Trusts strategic ambition to be Net Zero organisation through working with AGH Solutions Ltd, partner organisations, suppliers and reviewing estates and facilities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • First degree or equivalent professional award in appropriate EFM discipline. (Ceng, CIOB, RICS, RIBA, IHEEM, IWFM)
  • Master's degree level or equivalent qualifications/experience including significant experience in the operational management of a full range of frontline Hard & Soft FM services
  • Membership of appropriate professional body (i.e. CIBSE, IHEEM, CIOB, RICS, RIBA, IWFM, HEFMA) Masters level degree or equivalent and or working towards chartered status
  • Highly specialist knowledge over more than one function/discipline in the remit of the role

Desirable

  • Master's level qualification or equivalent experience, ideally in structural engineering
  • NHS senior management or leadership course
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

Essential

  • Comprehensive understanding of the NHS and its infrastructure
  • Successful track record at Director/Senior Management level in a large complex organisation
  • Successful track record of contract negotiation and long-term contract management/performance management and monitoring of a large PFI or similar contract
  • Excellent understanding of negotiation theory and practice and ability to achieve exceptional results
  • Evidence of learning through integrated learning
  • Evidence of leadership development
  • Experience of managing staff and multiple budgets
