Trust Grade F2 - Obstetrics and Gynaecology
This job is now closed
Job summary
Airedale is a small acute general hospital and community Foundation Trust with an excellent reputation for medical staff training and education. We are proud to be an associated teaching hospital of Leeds School of Medicine; we provide clinical placements in a wide range of specialities for doctors in training from foundation to specialist trainee level and we are host employer for the Airedale GP Training Programme.
We would welcome applications from doctors taking a break from training following completion of foundation training (either because you are out of phase, planning to take a break for part of the year or looking for some alternative experience prior to deciding/commencing specialty training). Less than full time (LTFT) or job share applications will be considered but this will normally require a proportionate share of out of hours shifts.
We currently have an opportunity in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for a 6 months fixed term contract.
Main duties of the job
- Labour ward triage, ward management, assisting in obstetric theatre, patient assessment in MAC
- 1st on call duties for acute gynaecology through ED, EPAU and GATU
- Gynaecology and Antenatal clinic under supervision
- Operating under supervision
Our commitments to you would be:
- A clinical supervisor.
- An e-portfolio if required.
- Training opportunities.
- GMC connection to the Trust and Responsible Officer.
- An appraisal if required.
If you are able and prepared to commit for >6 months:
- Up to 1 day per week doing student teaching/simulation/QI project of interest to you or a prolonged break part way through the year (perhaps to go travelling etc); this must be discussed and agreed at interview.
Our expectations of you would be that you will:
- Have already completed 1 year of Foundation Training (or equivalent); previous NHS experience would be a definite advantage.
- Be able to act at ST 1-2 level and provide supervision and support to junior colleagues.
- Have full GMC registration and a licence to practice; please do not apply unless you already have FULL GMC registration
- Have a PLAB certificate if required.
- Participate in the normal rota for trainees in the specialty/specialties you are employed; this would usually include out of hours shifts but this depends on the specialty.
