Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the forward thinking and progressive Pharmacy department at Airedale General Hospital, on the outskirts of Skipton.

We are looking for a Band 8a Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Medical Specialties to join the fantastic team at Airedale. We welcome applications from innovative and enthusiastic team players who communicate effectively at all levels to join our dynamic team.

Our Pharmacists are highly respected members of the multidisciplinary team, and you could join this team to support the delivery of medicines optimisation through high-quality patient centred care.

Main duties of the job

  1. To provide a specialist clinical pharmacy service to designated wards, clinics and specialist areas in conjunction with other clinical and junior pharmacists
  2. To lead the safe, rational and cost-effective prescribing of medication in area of speciality
  3. To support clinicians with the management of patients in a specialist area, including assessing of patient therapeutic response, blood result interpretation, and adjusting medication and doses in accordance with local procedures and in liaison with clinical leads
  4. To be responsible for the Homecare Medicines service
  5. To be responsible for managing Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG) across the organisation
  6. To actively support the Medicines Management Waste Reduction Programme

Essential

  • Registered as a Pharmacist with GPhC
  • Pharmacy Degree
  • Post-graduate Diploma from an approved clinical pharmacy scheme, or equivalent experience
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice

Desirable

  • Membership of UKCPA
  • Membership of the Royal pharmaceutical Society
  • Postgraduate Masters
  • Independent Prescriber or working towards this qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience as a practicing clinical pharmacist within an acute hospital trust
  • Analysis and management of drug expenditure
  • Experience in delivering risk reduction initiatives
