Job summary
The post holder will be expected to provide assistance to the Administration Manager in ensuring the delivery of an effective and efficient 24-hour reception and administration service in the Emergency Department. The post holder will directly supervise a team of 21 admin staff and will also work as a member of the team, providing high quality customer care to patients and service users. Also expected to provide out of hours support to the wider Urgent Care admin team.
The post holder will be required to undertake a wide range of administrative duties to support the Administration Manager and the wider ED team.
Main duties of the job
The Emergency Department Administration team is an efficient and high quality service that is supportive of patients, medical and nursing staff and outside organisations. The activities and responsibilities for the Administration Supervisor will be, and not exhaustive to:
- Responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of the Receptionists and Admin Support staff
- Coordinate the daily activities of the admin team, provide support and advice and ensure staff portray a professional image to all service users.
- Jointly responsible for ensuring all shifts are covered, to ensure a 24-hour, 7 day week service is provided.
- Work as a member of the reception team which includes working rostered unsociable hours, public holidays and expected to work flexibly to support the needs of the department.
- Responsible for providing a patient friendly, confidential, speedy and effective reception and registration service for patients, relatives and visitors attending the Emergency Department
