Job summary
A very exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Physiotherapistto work in the Orthopaedic therapy team at Airedale General Hospital.
The post holder will lead in the advanced assessment and treatment of elective and trauma patients within the specialty who may have complex presentation, determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated and to maintain clinical records as an autonomous practitioner.
The post holder will provide expert training and education to all grades of therapy staff, students and other health professionals
The post holder will act as a source of expertise and provide an advisory service to other AGH therapists and members of the wider MDT in the management of orthopaedic patients
The post holder will support the delivery of the Weekend Orthopaedic service, training staff, assessing competency, rota information and provide advice out of hours.
The post holder will deputise for the Orthopaedic team leader when requested.
The service is provided over 7 days for the physiotherapists and generic therapy assistants, Eroster is used to plan the rotas.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake a supporting role to the Team Leader; managing, planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the therapy service provided to Orthopaedic patients on the trauma/elective wards. The team provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to facilitate safe and timely hospital discharges.
- To act as a source of expertise and provide an advisory service to other AGH therapists and members of the MDT in the management of Orthopaedic patients.
- To lead in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have complex and chronic presentation, and determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
- To provide expert training and education for all grades of staff and other health professionals in the therapeutic management of orthopaedic patients.
- To deputise for the Team Leader when requested.
- Provide effective student training and development.
