An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Cancer team as a CNS for Haematology/Oncology including Acute Oncology, MSCC and Cancer of Unknown Primary at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust
We are seeking a committed motivated nurse with an interest in developing and improving the Acute Cancer service with the lead CNS; exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential to join an existing dedicated and cohesive team.
The post holder will play a central role within the Acute Oncology services working closely with the MDT's and existing medical and nursing colleagues: providing specialist nursing contribution to the management of cancer patients needing emergency care, enabling prompt assessment, diagnosis and treatment from complications of the treatment and consequences of their cancer.
Experience of Oncology Nursing and Chemotherapy is essential with comprehensive knowledge of cancer and treatment related emergency conditions.
The service includes being on call and participation in 7 day a week workingComprehensive knowledge of triage, pathways and management of Acute Cancer patients is required.

Main duties of the job
The overall purpose of this role working in conjunction with the Lead CNS for Haem/Onc and the medical staff is to assist in the development of a high-quality specialist nursing service for patients diagnosed with a oncological cancer whilst ensuring the delivery of evidence basedpractice, better outcomes for patients and the development of services within the Trust.
This role includes working under the guidance and direction of the Lead CNS for Haematology/Oncology to ensure the clinical effectiveness and governance within the Haematology/Oncology Day Unit and to provide a high-quality expert nursing service for patients diagnosed with an Oncological diagnosis, ensuring the delivery of evidence basedpractice, better outcomes for patients and the development of services within the Trust.
Core components of the nursing role include ensuring best practice in infection prevention and control, providing a clean environment for care and ensuring that patients are treated with dignity and respect.The post holder is required to create an environment where patients are empowered an enabled to make informed decisions about their choice of care.

Essential
- Level 1 Registered Nurse (Adult branch) on part 1 of the live NMC Register
- Significant post registration experience, of which must have been at Band 6 level or above preferably within cancer care
- Hold a qualification in Oncology or Haematology at Level 2/3. Or be willing to work towards
- Experience of Venous Access and Cannulation, central venous access devices.
Desirable
- Experience in administration of chemo
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Willingness to undertake and successfully complete appropriate courses within a timescale as agreed by manager.
