Job summary
Applications are invited for a 12-month Locum Consultant in General Surgery. The successful candidate will join a motivated and supportive team of general surgeons delivering both acute and elective general surgical services at Harrogate and District Foundation Trust.
The General Surgery department is well supported by a strong multidisciplinary team, including 1 Associate Specialist, 8 Specialty Doctors, 2 Specialist Registrars, and 8 Doctors in Training (a combination of FY1, FY2 and Core Trainees). The service also benefits from the expertise of 2 GI Nurse Specialists, 5 Nurse Endoscopists, and a dedicated team of IBD Nurses
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and forward-thinking multidisciplinary team, of which we are extremely proud, delivering a high-quality and patient-centred upper gastrointestinal service.
The appointee will be a core member of the Upper GI MDT, contributing to the comprehensive management of benign upper gastrointestinal conditions
The post includes participation in a 1 in 8 on-call rota. The department prides itself on excellent teamwork and close collaboration with clinical colleagues to deliver a high-quality general surgical and emergency service.
All applicants must hold Specialist Registration with the GMC, or be within six months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCST (or equivalent) in General Surgery, with FRCS (or equivalent). JAG accreditation for upper GI endoscopy is essential.
