This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced doctor to join the acute medicine team at Harrogate District Hospital as a Medical Education Fellow. The post is suitable for a candidate who is in the middle or the end of training, to build and progress their training in the NHS whilst supporting our medical students. It would be a strong platform to build a portfolio for a CESR application.

The post holder will work within our acute team one day per week and provide a supervisory level of medical cover to the team, as well as provide teaching to a group of medical undergraduates.

The team are a supportive and cohesive group of 6 substantive consultants and a long term locum with whom you will conduct ward rounds, support inpatient and ambulatory care as necessary. The team are supported by a team of junior doctors and Advanced Clinical Practitioners who work in a collaborative, supportive way to deliver the best care possible.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide leadership and support the development of junior colleagues on the ward

  • To take responsibility for and provide senior clinical support and supervision to the service

  • Develop own knowledge and experience in medical education.

  • To contribute to the development of our Undergraduate Teaching Programme for 4thyear Medical Students

  • To teach and support medical students to meet the learning objectives of their clinical placements at HDFT

  • Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.

  • To maintain a high professional standard and actively participate in matters concerning patient safety and Clinical Governance
