Job summary

To providetherapyleadership for theintensive care andward respiratory patients.The post will be based atHarrogate and District foundation trust (HDFT).This post and 2 other band 7 roles collectively lead and manage respiratory services (inpatients and outpatients), pulmonary rehabilitation, cardiac rehabilitation, acute ward respiratory patients, surgicalpatientsand intensive care patients.

The post holder will be the lead physiotherapist for the ward and intensive care services for respiratory patients. They will lead a team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and rehabilitation assistants working as part of the MDT and providing specialist holistic care to this group of patients.The post willrequirethe provision of a highadvancedstandardofphysiotherapy assessment,treatmentand advice to patientsin order toprovide a quality service to the local population.

To undertake the highly advancedrole in planningandco-ordinatingresources, delivering and evaluating thephysiotherapy service provided to patientsin the ward environments.

Main duties of the job

  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of the practitioner's professional activities

  • To work as an autonomous practitioner managing a defined, specialist clinical caseload, being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work.

  • To provide advice on specialised physiotherapy care and treatment for patients withacuterespiratory conditions andfacilitaterehabilitationbased on theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience, and to be consultedfrequentlyfor specialist advice and guidance by junior team members and other health care professionals both within and outside the trust

  • To formulate, evaluate and reassess individualised physiotherapy management and / or treatment plans in particularappropriate formsof exercise,breathing patternassessmentusingclinical reasoning skills and utilising a wide range of treatment skills and optionsin order toformulate a specialised programme of care.

  • Tobe responsible forown and team patient care plans.

  • Toassess andinductindividualisedprogramme

  • To implement and manageinpatient caseloads across the team appropriately

  • Tojointly with other band 7 staff,plan, organise and evaluate,and ensure effectivedelivery ofinpatient,outpatientand group classes across all the respiratory services, liaising withappropriate membersof the MDT
