Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Clinical Care Support Worker to join our busy and expanding Ophthalmology Service.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering a high standard of patient-centred care across ophthalmology outpatient clinics and associated services. The post holder will support the assessment, investigation and treatment of patients with a range of ophthalmic conditions, working with a degree of autonomy under the direction of registered nursing and medical staff.

This role offers excellent opportunities for training and development within a specialist clinical area

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high-quality direct patient care in ophthalmology outpatient and related settings

  • Assist with patient assessments, examinations, investigations and treatments

  • Undertake ophthalmic imaging and visual assessments (training provided)

  • Prepare, clean and maintain clinical equipment and consulting rooms

  • Act as a chaperone and support clinicians during examinations and procedures

  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records using electronic systems

  • Ensure patient safety and adhere to Trust policies, procedures and protocols

  • Participate in training, service development and quality improvement activities

  • Support staff and act as a positive role model within the team
