Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and self-motivated radiographer to join our Ultrasound team.
The post holder will be responsible for the daily supervision of an integrated, responsive and effective imaging service; coordinate resources to ensure continuity of service; be an integral member of the ultrasound team and ensure compliance with national standards. Being primarily responsible for delivering an ultrasound service where required across the trust, in keeping with agenda for change terms and conditions.
This is a sonographer role that includes clinical duties on a daily basis; contributing towards the day-to-day operation of a high quality, flexible and efficient ultrasound department and the clinical caseload.
The post holder will provide support to the other radiology and trust staff on a daily basis, ensuring best clinical practice and full utilisation of the resources available. They will be on hand to discuss scan findings and any relevant adjustments to patient pathways to enhance patient experience and ensure we give the best service possible to all our patients.
They will work closely with the Principal Sonographer to ensure the department objectives are being translated into daily practice. They must ensure the activity of the department reflects the values of the Trust with the aim of improving the quality of the service delivered.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the department in the following ways:
- To ensure images and examination details are stored appropriately.
- To use ultrasound equipment safely and effectively.
- Adhere to ultrasound guidance and protocols.
- Participate in audits and review activities to ensure continued high department and practice standards.
- Responsible for managing own workload
- Work within their scope of practice, remaining within expected levels of competencies and seeking advice / guidance / assistance when required.
- Undertaking ultrasound examinations and providing high quality reports on scans appropriate to training and the level of training undertaken.
- Carrying out support duties to support the management and function of the department within a Sonographer role.
- Progressing patient care and workflow of the ultrasound team, following relevant scan findings and to act upon these accordingly
- To attend the relevant training events and programmes when required.
- To ensure a high level of communication with both patients and colleagues in order to ensure a good examination standard.
