Ward Manager - Acute Frailty Unit

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the the LTUCC Directorate at Harrogate Hospitalon the Acute Frailty Unit. The desired post holder will be a dedicated, enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced admissions nurse with a passion for frailty to join our dynamic, patient focused team, as the permanent Ward Manager.

The Acute Frailty Unit includes 18 assessment beds and and 4 frailty SDEC FAB spaces. The ideal candidate will confidently and supportively lead the team and share our passion for delivering the highest quality care, providing an excellent patient experience and will be committed to continuous improvement.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will maintain continuous responsibility and accountability for the effective and efficient management of the ward, providing leadership to the nursing team and ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, high-quality, patient-centred care.

  • Provide day to day operational management of the ward, coordinating, allocating, and prioritising workloads to ensure staff and resources are used effectively and the ward runs smoothly, with a focus on time to inpatient medical bed.

  • Lead the training, supervision and continuous professional development of the ward team.

  • Ensure safe staffing levels by producing fair, effective rotas and managing sickness and absence in line with the Trust's attendance management policy.

  • Maintain and monitor systems to ensure staff compliance with mandatory training requirements.

  • Work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary and wider teams to support the efficient operation of the ward and ensure a safe, effective patient journey.

  • Hold responsibility for the ward budget, including monitoring expenditure and ensuring effective use of resources.
