Within the Planned and Surgical Care Directorate at Harrogate District Hospital, we are dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services to our community.

We are recruiting to a Service Manager post on a substantive basis. We will be recruiting at either a Band 7 or a Band 8a level dependent upon individual experience. This is a great development opportunity for someone who is interested in developing their operational management skills. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work closely with both the General Manager and Operational Director in the operational management of key surgical services. This is a key leadership role where you will contribute to strategic planning, lead projects, and ensure targets are met within a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

The Service Manager/Assistant Service Manager post is a key position within the Planned, Surgical and Children's Care Directorate, and will be responsible for providing day-to-day operational management and support.

Reporting into the General Manager and working closely with the triumvirate team, named Care Group Clinical Lead and Matron, you will ensure we deliver high quality services, provide an excellent experience for our patients and meet our regulatory and operational performance targets.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Service Manager / Service Manager is a key management role and is responsible for the operational delivery of all aspects of the service areas across the Harrogate Hospital site. The key aims are:

  • Provide timely, efficient and effective operational service management support for all specialities within the Care Group to ensure that these services are responsive, innovative and provided to the highest possible clinical and performance standards.
  • Take forward agreed projects to improve service delivery and patient experience in key areas.
  • Lead on ensuring that all performance/quality targets are met.
  • To be a key member of Care Group triumvirate team, taking full responsibility for actions and for keeping other team members fully informed at all times.
