Job summary

Are you passionate about ensuring patients with cancer receive the best possible care and treatment? If so this is an exciting opportunity for you to work as part of our team who specialise in supporting patients with breast cancer.

We are currently progressing two innovative developments within Breast oncology and this role is pivotal to their successful introduction. You will support patients to navigate through their cancer pathway by ensuring access to digital technology and supporting access to timely diagnostics and clinics. You will support patient to access the right information and support by signposting to the appropriate services and professionals

Previous experience or ability in effective coordination and managing complex patient care are essential, and compassion and empathy are pivotal to this role. You will need excellent communication skills with experience of working in a health care setting.

Please note, this is a fixed term or secondment post for 12 months

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Breast cancer Pathway Coordinator to join the progressive department of Oncology. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in running a new service, EPROMS for patients with early breast cancer who are undergoing novel complex treatments.

The post holder will be responsible for the introduction of new patients to the service, signposting to appropriate sources of support and coordinating their care. They will provide full secretarial and administrative support for the other senior team members within the treatment team. The successful applicant will ensure patients are supported to engage in their treatment through support with utilisation of digital technology and access to the correct clinics. The successful applicant will help navigate pathways to ensure timely diagnostic and clinic appointments. This will include keeping accurate, up to date records and ensuring the smooth running of the service and new clinics.

The role will also form part of a collaborative working project with Novartis which aims to optimise workforce capacity within the early and advanced breast cancer oncology service.

The post holder will support the implementation of separated early and advanced clinics, manage appointments and coordinate patients through their cancer journey.
