Job summary

The post holder will undertake highly skilled support work with children and young people who have a physical and/ or functional disability. This may include working with children on an individual basis or as part of a group. It will also include working in partnership with others who are involved in the child's care, for example parents and carers, education staff, and other healthcare professionals.
Main duties of the job
(1)To work with individuals/groups of children covering a broad range of ages, from 0 to19, with a range of physical disabilities, disorders, learning difficulties and developmental delay.
(2) Use practical/technical/creative skills to assist in the provision of a flexible child centred programme of therapeutic activities enabling children and young people to participate in activities of daily living, play and access to the school curriculum.
(3)Take responsibility for specified tasks as instructed by the Occupational Therapists in the area of 24 hour postural management including seating, sleep systems and other positioning equipment.
(4) Provide support in the preparation, administration, planning and implementation of specially designed programmes of rehabilitation for both groups and individuals.
(5)To contribute to the overall assessment of patients under the direction of theOccupational Therapist.
(6)Work in a variety of settings including clinics, special schools, mainstream schools, nurseries, short breaks setting, Woodlands Ward and the child's home.
(7)Responsibility for the training of others, including delivering training.
(8)Delegating tasks to others.
