Advanced Speech & Language Therapist Complex Needs

Job summary

The Speech and Language Therapy Team in Specialist Children's Services is looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Speech & Language Therapist.

This post is a permanent role. The successful applicant will be the Complex Needs Clinical Lead for Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy.

The post holder will benefit from close working relationships within the Speech and Language Therapy team as well as multi-disciplinary relationships as part of a wider integrated Specialist Children's Service.

There will be a requirement to have a recognised Dysphagia qualification and access to own transport.

Main duties of the job

  1. To independently manage and provide a highly specialist SLT service for children and young people with complex needs within the Harrogate locality of HDFT. The children are aged 0 to 19 years and attend special school as well as mainstream schools and nurseries in the area.
  2. To provide consultancy / advisory service to SaLT therapy staff within Specialist Children's Services regarding complex needs and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
  3. To provide highly specialist training to other professionals relating to communication.
  4. To allocate clients, design therapy programmes and provide clinical support and supervision to Speech and Language Therapy Assistant Practitioners and SaLT's.
  5. To establish and maintain the quality of the paediatric SLT service through working towards best practice and developing clinical governance alongside the Principal SLT.
