Clinical Support – Pre Operative Assessment Unit

Job summary

The post holder will support the team within the clinical area by providing a host of clinical duties including preparing necessary clinic documentation and carrying out observations and assigned tasks such as phlebotomy for patients attending planned Pre-Operative Assessment clinics. They will assist with the pre-operative assessment screening and Optimisation service as patients are reviewed when they have been listed for surgery.

Main duties of the job

  • Assist with the reception and care of patients, relatives and visitors to the department.
  • Prepare pre-operative assessment documents and help keep medical notes in order maintain high standards of record keeping ensuring entries are accurate and legible
  • To assist nursing and clerical staff in Pre-Operative Assessment.
  • To carry out tasks and core patient observations, ECG & venepuncture (following the appropriate training and having being deemed competent).
  • To work as an integrated member of the team, assisting with nursing procedures according to agreed policies.
  • To achieve a high standard of patient care.
