An exciting opportunity has arisen as part of the Family Hub development within County Durham to join a team of Family Peer Supporters. The Family Peer Supporter role is an integral part of our 0-19 (25) Family Health Service delivery across County Durham, based within the Infant Feeding Team, and will work in partnership with Family Hubs in County Durham. This post will mainly cover the South of County Durham, but is a countywide post offering some support into the North and East of County Durham to meet service need. The role is NHS Band 3 and will be fixed term until end March 2026.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a high standard of information and support to Children and their families in a range of settings (home, communities, Family Hubs and clinics etc.) The post holder, following appropriate training will work with appropriate supervision to undertake a range of tasks and group delivery. The main focus of the role is to provide low level breastfeeding support, supporting Infant- Parent relationships, and family health and wellbeing.

- Good standard of education to NVQ level 2
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of working with and supporting parents, children and families
- Knowledge and/or experience of breastfeeding

- Good understanding of the issues of confidentiality, safeguarding children and domestic abuse.
