Job summary

Are you an experienced occupational therapist with a special interest in services for children and young people with complex health needs?

You will demonstrate skills and competence in this clinical area and understanding of evidence informed approaches. You will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of SEND and the EHCP process. In addition, you will hold a varied clinical caseload of children with complex health needs, and support our Band 6 Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support staff.

This post is based across 2 localities, at the Child Development Centre in Harrogate District Hospital and at also at Northallerton.

Main duties of the job

a. To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload

b. To work as an autonomous practitioner

c. Work in a highly specialised clinical role providing therapy to children and young people with complex health care needs as part of a multi-disciplinary team

d. Undertaking statutory assessments regarding educational needs and child protection, writing and presenting statutory reports

e. To be responsible for the quality of occupational therapy intervention in your specialist area

f. Demonstrate through practice, your specialist knowledge and theoretical understanding

g. To ensure high standards of service to the client group, their relatives and carers

h. To offer advice and training on areas of your expertise and make recommendations where appropriate, both internally and externally

i. To liaise with other professionals and agencies in the best interests of the caseload.

j. To be proficient in the use of the technical and ordinary equipment required for the fulfilment of your role

k. Support team members in a culture where effective I.T. and paper-based systems promote and maintain accurate and contemporaneous records in a retrievable format.

l. Work within organisational guidelines, HCPC standards of good practice and College of Occupational Therapists guidance. To have a good working knowledge of national and local standards and monitor own quality of practice.
