Job summary

The post is initially fixed term for 12 months and covers a wide range of account payable related duties and provides a comprehensive and efficient payments service in a confidential and professional manner.

The post holder will be required to work as part of a very busy team within the Payments section while studying towards Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT Level 2).

Once all the requirements of the Apprenticeship Programme have been met, the Apprentice will be offered a Band 3 post as a Finance Officer in the payments team on a permeant contract.

The Payments section is based within the Finance Directorate of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

Under direction and supervision carry out delegated duties within defined role boundaries, policy and protocols and work towards:

Help with creation of new supplier accounts on system database ensuring that all records are maintained.

Learn how to make timely and accurate payments to all suppliers and individuals, by adhering strictly to internal procedures.

Ensure prompt, efficient and accurate preparation of payment data using computerised input facilities in accordance with established procedures and ensuring that weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual specified timetables are met.

Learn how to register invoices onto Oracle Payments system and arrange payment within the guidelines of the Better Payment Practice Code.

Help and Learn how to prepare Cheque payments, urgent and schedule and Charitable funds payments and CHAPS payments.

You will be trained and become confident to resolve payment related problems, which can occur at short notice outside of routine payment timetables. (This will be later on in the apprenticeship
