Acute Frailty Fellow

12-month post

This is a 12-month fixed term position on an established frailty unit (FY3/IMT1/IMT2 equivalent) starting 6th August 2025 The successful applicant will work as part of an innovative, supportive multi-disciplinary team and will participate in the development of our new frailty service. This is a really exciting time with plenty of opportunity for candidates to develop their own special interest within frailty.

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to invite applications for an Acute Frailty Fellow post who will work within the medical directorate. Post-holders should have experience in elderly medicine and have an interest in working as part of a motivated team to develop frailty services.

The job will combine clinical work, with potential to develop a special interest one afternoon per week. Out-of-hours work is not a requirement of this role.

The post will suit a motivated resident doctor who would like to develop their frailty experience and has an interest in developing new acute frailty services.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as part of a team to deliver inpatient frailty care on the frailty admission and short stay unit.
  • To maintain a high professional standard and actively participate in matters concerning patient safety and Clinical Governance

You will be supported by a team of 10 Geriatricians and ACPsHarrogate tops a recent small trust research league table, and research interests are supported by a team of dedicated research nurses.Our staff go above and beyond their duties, and take pride in caring for our patients - making every moment matter. We are the principal provider of hospital services to the population of Harrogate and Ripon and the surrounding rural district, and have a catchment population of 185,000.

Harrogate District Hospital is a vibrant district general hospital with just under 400 beds. It is set in the beautiful spa town of Harrogate and within reach of the Yorkshire Dales.

It is part of Harrogate and District Foundation Trust which offers acute services from our hospitals in Harrogate and Ripon and outreach services from our community locations, providing high quality healthcare across North Yorkshire, Leeds, Middlesbrough, County Durham and Darlington.

HDFT supports the education of medical students from the University of Leeds. The Trust also has an excellent Postgraduate Medical Centre and a host of activities to support the professional development of its medical workforce including quality improvement and leadership development opportunities for junior doctors.
