Senior Care Support Worker (Band 2, opportunity to progress to band 3)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Care Support Worker to join our Paediatric Outpatient Team. The post holder will work as part of the Paediatric Services team delivering a high standard of direct patient care within the Paediatric Outpatients Department both on and off site.
You will work under the direction of the Paediatric Nurse Specialists and Paediatric Service Manager, utilising your own skills and knowledge.
Initial post will start at a Band 2 depending on your experience and skill. Following successful completion of training and competences, there will be the opportunity to progress to a Band 3. You will be expected to work within a team carrying out interchangeable and varied duties dependent on the service needs that day. You may be required to work a flexible shift pattern.
Main duties of the job
- Meet and greet children, young people and their parents / carers arriving for clinic and perform diagnostic tests as required such as urine testing, BP, height and weight measurement
- Ensure that patient's notes are checked prior to clinic and that pre-clinic tests are requested and the appropriate results are available in the patient's notes (or on the ICE system).Ensure that equipment is clean, in working order and patient safety is maintained at all times. Maintain a working knowledge of incident reporting and emergency procedures
- Chaperone patients undergoing examinations and provide assistance to the medical team and nursing team as required
- Maintain consulting rooms by stocking up equipment and documentation as required. Ensure that all patient information is kept up to date reporting any queries to senior staf
- Work under the instruction of a Registered Nurse or clinician and when assessed competent perform area specific duties following local and national guidelines
