Job summary

We are looking for a new Ward Clerk to join our team - are you:

Able to act as a host and receptionist for the ward, ensuring that patients, relatives and visitors receive a friendly and efficient service whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times

Proficient in digital skills

Able to accurately coordinate the medical information and documents to ensure exceptional patient care

Able to work autonomously as well as within the team, using initiative and maintaining a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times without immediate access to line supervision

Main duties of the job

Perform reception desk duties, dealing with patient enquiries, directing patients to waiting areas/beds and ensuring effective communication at all times

Ensure that relevant data forms are completed within the set timescales and submitted via the appropriate database

Answer the telephone and take messages

Report items for repair and liaise with the works department by following agreed procedures

Order stores for the ward using the Trust's ordering systems

Monitor ward activity through IT systems and databases

Liaise with other departments and disciplines

Ensure reports and referral letters are escalated to the appropriate people/department within timescales

Prioritise work load and work on own initiative
