Job summary
Whether you are just starting off in your career and have a special interest in Pharmacy or looking to build on your existing experience then we are looking for you to join our friendly and forward thinking team, working within the clinical trials team.
We are looking to recruit to our patient-focused pharmacy team as we continue to expand clinical trials across our Trust.
This role is pivotal to the success of our Medicines Optimisation services and will be working closely with our Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians to provide integrated pharmaceutical care for service users, to ensure safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of clinical trail medicines.
The successful candidates will be provided with training and support relevant to the role in order to develop skills and knowledge in hospital pharmacy clinical trial practice.
Main duties of the job
You will either have or be supported to work towards the completion of the dispensing assistant course. You will also posses an ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently, effective time management skills and be flexible to changing work routines. Previous experience of working in a hospital or community pharmacy would be desirable.
With training and experience within the role you will then have the opportunity to support in the delivery of a safe, efficient and cost-effective Clinical Trials Service across the in-patient dispensary, as well as:
- Supporting the Pharmacy Technician with planning and organising day to day work and service delivery.
- Management of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) including receipt. dispensing, returns, quarantine and destruction.
- Maintaining GCP spreadsheets.
- Input onto the Pharmacy Stock management computer system and receipt of medicines orders from external suppliers and the Stores and Distribution team.
- Liaison with internal Research teams and external Sponsors and associates.
- Daily management of returned medicines including accountability.
- Aseptic worksheet collection and data transfer to accountability logs.
- Filing of Chemocare orders and prescriptions.
- Archiving of clinical trial documentation according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Management of COMARK (temperature monitoring system) and equipment for safe storage of all clinical trial materials.
