Job summary

The heart centre at Harrogate District Hospital undertakes pacemaker implantation, diagnostic angiograms, implantable loop implantation and other procedures as required. It is a lovely unit with a small dedicated team and state of the art equipment.

The unit it is looking for a new Band 7 nurse manager to continue the fine work of the department and to lead the team through service developments in the future. the unit has strong links with the Leeds electrophysiology team and are always seeking to develop services in support of all patients in the area.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be the unit manager for the catheter lab team and adhere to high professional standards of patient care and effective service delivery within the Heart Centre.

The post holder will have a background of registered nurses, qualified radiographer or qualified Cardiac Physiologist.

The Heart Centre performs cardiac investigations that include Coronary Angiograms, Trans-oesophageal Echocardiograms, Dobutamine stress echo tests as well as insertion of devices such as Permanent Pacemakers and ILR Devices. Procedures for other departments are also undertaken as required.

The post holder will have overall operational and managerial responsibility for Heart Centre involved in all aspects of the patient care from admission to discharge both in the lab and in recovery. The post holder will be responsible for the training and clinical supervision of staff nurses in the Heart Centre. The post holder will be involved in setting the strategic direction for future activity in the Heart Centre in conjunction with the Cardiology Consultant Team, the Chief Cardiac Physiologist and the Clinical Lead Nurse for Cardiology.

The post holder will liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team within the Cardio-Respiratory department and with those in other departments including the general ward areas.

The post holder will be involved in performing clinical audit and risk management.
