Job summary

We are delighted to be recruiting to a Specialist Podiatrist post, based in York, to expand our team of specialists working in high risk and wound care.

A new Wound Hub is being developed in York, through a collaboration between York Primary care network, York Teaching Hospitals and Harrogate and District NHS Trust with the aim of improving outcomes to patients with lower limb wounds.This exciting opportunity is looking to expand the current wound hub team.

We will welcome applications from HCPC registered Podiatrists, who are looking to develop into a specialist role. Secondments will be accepted

The York team consists of 22 Podiatrists supported by 4 Assistants/apprentices and 4 A&C staff and we provide service to 15 clinic locations in this area.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must have a minimum of one years clinical experience post-graduation. Good clinical skills, time management and organisational skills are critical to this role. You should have the ability to work on your own and as part of a team.

The post is accountable to the Podiatry Team Lead for York and the Clinical Lead for the Wound Hub.

This role will be based in the York Locality. A car owner or ability to travel is essential.

About us

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is a combined acute/community trust providing a range of community services across the North East of England.

The Podiatry Service covers the majority of the 3000 square miles of North Yorkshire and York area and is provided from over 60 clinical locations.

The service is managed in 4 Locality based teams.

In addition, our "one service" model provides seamless care for patients with acute Diabetes and other high-risk complications into the MDFT in our own Hospital and under service level agreement into York, Scarborough, Northallerton and Malton Hospitals.

HDFT Podiatry service worked closely with Huddersfield University in developing the Podiatry apprentice programme and currently have 4 apprentices at different stages in their degree, the team lead role will continue with the liaison with Huddersfield and will support the apprentice based in York team

The Podiatry service is proactively increasing its research capacity with current involvement in a number of research projects with academic partners. In addition, we will support our staff to develop their own research interests, application for funding etc.
