Internal Medicine 3 in Rheumatology
Fixed Term for 6 months February 2024 - August 2024
This is a replacement post for 6 months in Rheumatology. The postholder will be part of the tier 3 full shift rota within Medicine.

Main duties of the job
There are currently five consultant rheumatologists within the Rheumatology department, which provides outpatient and day case care for patients. The team do not admit inpatients directly but provide advice to general physician colleagues. The unit maintains a considerable number of sub-specialist interests including early inflammatory arthritis, osteoporosis, paediatric, spondylitis and connective tissue diseases.

Please be aware that this is not a training post and therefore applicants will unfortunately not be entitled to an e-portfolio. However we can offer access to the regional internal medicine and rheumatology teaching programmes and will support candidates to pass the PACES exam if not already achieved. All applicants must hold a current GMC registration.

- To deliver appropriate clinical care to medical patients with consultant support by working on the Inpatient wards, acute medical unit, and in clinics
- To provide appropriate clinical care to acute patients with consultant support, by working on the on call rota
- To take an active role in the departmental quality improvement and audit programme
- To take an active role in multidisciplinary education within the departmen
- To work with colleagues to ensure the Trust manages clinical care within the available bed complement and agreed facilities.

Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Evidence of achievement of IM2 competencies in General internal Medicine at time of application
Desirable
- Experience in the field of Rheumatology
- Experience in leading and managing medical on-call/admission clinical team
- Current GMC registration with a license to practice
