Job summary

To work closely with all members of the Gastroenterology team to ensure that patients receive seamless care within the Trust and community. To provide specialist advice to support assessment, planning and implementation of care for patients with Inflammatory Bowel disease and where appropriate to deliver programmes of care. To carry out specialist nursing procedures. To contribute to specialist education and training programmes for other staff and learners

Main duties of the job

  • Establish and maintain effective communication with various individuals and groups on complex potentially stressful topics in a range of situations.

  • To manage and prescribe treatments for patients who require Aminosalicylates, Immunosuppressant's, Janus Kinase Inhibitor's and Biologics. This will include pre - screening checks, liaising with primary care with regards to vaccinations and shared care guidelines. Patient education and written information. Regular blood monitoring and maintenance of trust database.

About us

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and knowledgeable registered nurse to join our Inflammatory Bowel Disease service at Harrogate District Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated, caring and compassionate individual who has a keen interest in managing patients with a diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel disease. The successful candidate will work within the multi-disciplinary team to support the lead IBD nurse in delivering high standards of patient care whilst maintaining a safe working environment.

Ideally, you should have some experience in providing care to patients with a diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, with the ability to plan, assess, implement and evaluate patient care. It is essential for you to possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a willingness to learn, along with the ability to work effectively, efficiently and independently under the supervision of the lead IBD nurse.

You should be self-motivated and have a positive attitude towards change and be able to adopt to change accordingly. This is a great opportunity for a senior RN who has a keen interest in managing patients with a diagnosis of IBD. Experience at a band 6 is desirable.
