Job summary

We are looking for an experienced midwife with enthusiasm for delivering high quality women centred care, to join our team of Delivery Suite Coordinators.

The Delivery Suite coordinator has responsibility for the organisation of workload within the department promoting continuity of career and liaising with team leaders. In addition you will provide leadership, act as a mentor across the service and promote positive multidisciplinary team working.

Harrogate is a high performing maternity unit and we are seeking highly motivated individuals to contribute and develop the delivery of high quality, evidence-based midwifery.

This is an exciting time as we shape the future of our Midwifery service and continue on a journey of improvement with our plans to implement the vision of Better Births (2016)

Main duties of the job

  • Co-ordinate services to ensure that the individual needs of mothers and babies and their families are met.
  • To provide care support and advice to women and their families throughout the intrapartum and immediate post natal period in accordance with the Midwives Rules and Standards (2012)
  • To be a clinical role model demonstrating expert clinical practice whilst providing support and advice for less experienced midwives and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Implement programmes of care, which contributes to the care and education of women and members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Complete all records to the recognised standard so that they comply with regulations laid down by the Trust and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC registration
  • Diploma/degree level or equivalent with evidence of further professional development.
  • Provide evidence of personal and professional development.
  • Mentor preparation course.

Desirable

  • Neonatal and Infant Physical Examination qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience as a qualified midwife with recent experience on Delivery Suite
  • Evidence of completion of a successful preceptorship package
  • A good understanding of the management of rosters/ off duty
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of clinical governance and risk assessment.
  • Extended" midwifery skills; IV cannulation, perineal suturing, IV drug administration, CTG interpretation
  • A good understanding of the Continuity of Carer Model

  • Experience in complaints management
  • An understanding of current roster pro system and Trust guidance

  • Able to demonstrate the mentoring of students and induction of new staff.
  • Can demonstrate application of theory to practice
